This week, I found the topic to be fascinating, especially in its relation to TV and movies. Robotics are something that people in movies use as a way to show what the future could be like, however like Walter Benjamin, I to believe that this industrialization of robotics is taking away people's chances to have authenticity and uniqueness (Lecture 3). For example, the new HBO show Westworld has characters who are human like robots who like many other futuristic movies, turn against their creators (Time). I find the world of Westworld to specifically take away any of the creative aspect that humans have because the “robots” are so human like that actual human life is taken granted. Ultimately showing that the more we industrialized, the harder it will be for humans to thrive and there is a potential for the robots to turn against us.

Another form of industrialization is seen in the production of cars in the early 1900s when Henry Ford developed the car as a “plaything for the rich” (Eye Witness History). 100 years later, cars in developed countries are made for almost anyone with a choice of many different types of cars showing how fast industrialization can happen. If you look at the robotics of it, car companies need robotics to run the cars and use art as a way to differentiate themselves from other cars. The robotics, however, are becoming more complex to the point that we are already close to having flying cars. The first ever flying car called The Liberty goes on sale in 2018 and costs $600,000 (Eldredge). However, what people are not realizing is that there are still countries in the world who are far from being industrialized. For example, Cuba still uses cars from the 1950s due to not having access to modern cars because their country is not as industrialized as others (The News Wheel). There is such a big gap in industrialization that proves that robotics are not helping people as much as everyone assumes.
